General Business Letter

This letter can be used to respond to a letter you’ve received that needs acknowledging and where the sender would expect a reply detailing what steps you’ll be taking following their letter. (Bold text is explanation and should be removed from the finalized version of the letter, while blanks _____ should have information added by you, to personalize the letter.)


Dear _____________, (Add the name of the person you’re writing to.)

Thank you for your letter dated __________. (Add the date of the letter you’re writing about.) You raise some very interesting and pertinent points. These were:

  • ________ (Now list the points.)

I will be dealing with these points personally as soon as possible. (List your plan of action or steps that will be taken.)

Business Introduction Letter

The second example of the free business letter templates is for a business introduction letter. This type of letter would be used to introduce yourself or someone else you were recommending.

It was a pleasure to meet you _________. (Explain when and where you met them or how you know of them.)

I believe that __________ (insert name of person or company) would be a valuable asset for you. They/It would complement your business as:

CV/Resume Cover Letter

The third of the free business letter templates is a cover letter. This would generally be sent along with your C.V. or resume when applying for a job.


Dear Sir or Madam, (Or add the name of the person you’re writing to if you know it.)

I am applying for the job of ­­­__________ as advertised in __________. (Include the job title and where you saw the job advertisement.) I am particularly interested in furthering my career with your company due to your reputation. (Add further details if possible.)

My relevant employment history and experience includes ________. (Explain why you’re a good fit for the job and what makes you an outstanding candidate.)

I look forward to meeting you at the interview. Thank you for considering my application.
